The Martyrs killed by the Chinese Nationalists during the Boxer Rebellion 2 Nov 1899 till 7 Sept 1901.
During this rebellion an estimated total of 136 protestant missionaries and 53 children were killed, 47 catholic priests and nuns, 30.000 chinese catholics, 2000 chinese protestants, and about 200-400 Russian Orthodox Christians. Still after that, many were killed, like in 1904, and later by the communists 1929, 1931.
In Christianity, a martyr is a person considered to have died because of their testimony for Jesus or faith in Jesus. In years of the early church, stories depict this often occurring through death by sawing, stoning, crucifixion, burning at the stake or other forms of torture and capital punishment.
